Police have released an image of a smiling man they believe to be connected to the rape of a woman in her early 20s.
An urgent hunt is now underway, after Metropolitan Police published the photo online today, saying that they would like to speak to the grinning individual following the attack in Stratford, London last year.
Officers rushed to a property in east London on the 12 December 2021 at 11pm after the woman in her early 20s reported to them that a man had raped her.
Met Police inquiries have been ongoing and the force added that the victim is continuing to receive specialist support.
Officers are now urging the public to come forward if they have any information regarding the identity of the man they want to speak to.
Detective Inspector Jeremy McDermott, from the North East Command Unit, said: “This is a truly horrifying incident, which no person should ever be subject to.
“We have carried out a number of enquiries since the incident was reported and are now asking for members of the public to assist with our investigation.
“We would ask anyone who recognises the man in the photos to call us or Crimestoppers as soon as possible.”
Anyone with information has been urged to call the police on 101 with CAD reference 2709 of 16/11/2022.
